Dit vierde en laatste deel uit de Drift-serie* vormt de apotheose in de grote strijd tussen de Nephilim en de gevallen engelen. Nora (ca. 16, ik-figuur) moet als nieuwe leider van de Nephilim de gevallen engelen vernietigen, dus ook Patch. Langzamerhand wordt duidelijk wie welke rol nu eigenlijk speelt. Tot ongeveer halverwege kabbelt het verhaal door en wordt er veel herhaald uit de voorgaande delen. De spanning bouwt zich op, zeker als het perspectief van goed en kwaad vaak van plaats wisselt en er continu sprake is van wisselende machtsverhoudingen. Wie moet je nog geloven en op wie kun je vertrouwen? De uiteindelijke strijd is groots en spannend, en hoewel de uitkomst niet verrassend genoemd kan worden, bewaart de auteur nog enige verrassingselementen tot op het laatst. Ook dit vierde deel leest als een trein; werkelijkheid en fantasy lopen door elkaar heen, waardoor ‘alles mogelijk lijkt’, hoe gruwelijk en onwaarschijnlijk ook. Vanaf ca. 15 jaar.

Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?
