WHAT I WANT
Now for a little “you time.” We’ve covered what you have and what you need, this section is about what you want. Goals, dreams, plans—call them what you will, these are the questions to help you figure out exactly what target you should shoot for. This is no time for modesty or denial. The answers you arrive could be the most powerful motivating force in the next part of your life.
1. WHAT DO I WANT MORE THAN ANY OTHER?
(ex. To be rich, to be my own boss, a new career I love, to spend time with family, etc.)
2. HOW IMPORTANT IS MONEY TO ME? HOW MUCH DO I WANT TO MAKE?
(ex. I want to be rich, be comfortable, I don’t care about money, etc.)
I. WHAT IS MY RISK TOLERANCE? WHAT AM I WILLING TO DO TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
(ex. Move, quit current job, sell/mortgage home, etc.)
II. DO I WANT THIS TO BE A SIDE JOB, A CAREER, A HOBBY THAT EARNS MONEY?
YOU HAVE JUST COMPLETED CATCH ME UP’S ENTREPRENEURIAL PERSONAL INVENTORY. YOUR ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD HELP YOU UNDERSTAND, AT A GLANCE, WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT AND WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. THEY SHOULD CLARIFY THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMMITMENTS THAT DEFINE THE BOUNDARIES OF YOUR WORLD, AS WELL AS THE NEEDS YOU MUST MEET TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR DECISION. THEY SHOULD ALSO EMBOLDEN YOU WITH A GREATER APPRECIATION FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GOING FOR YOU: ASSETS, SKILLS, NETWORK, EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE.
